We will continue exploring our Collections textbook and we will be focusing on the following objective this week:
The student will be able to analyze the structure of an informational text and paraphrase central ideas and details. See attachment for notes and vocabulary words pertaining to the nonfiction article we will be reading.
Lastly, please visit my website HERE for additional resources and updates.
Monday, October 10th:
- *Rough draft essays are due (Should workers have the right to strike?)
Homework: 'To The Point' Vocabulary Practice *Due Tuesday, October 11th
Tuesday, October 11th:
Homework: 'If I Had the Wings of an Angel' Vocabulary Practice *Due Thursday, October 13th
Wednesday, October 12th: NO SCHOOL
- Spelling Test (this week's words- see attachment) *Vocabulary test on 10/21
- Introduction/Conclusion Quiz (see attached study guide)
*Please note: My plans for the week do not anticipate additional homework and I prefer that students complete their rough draft essay in class. However, if students do not complete their essay in class by Thursday, October 6th, they will have to complete the essay at home and submit their rough draft no later than Monday, October 10th. I need a writing sample from each student in an effort to help students build upon their current level of understanding.
*Next week's vocabulary test (Friday, 10/21) will assess this week's word list AND next week's word list. Next week's word list will be sent on next week's language arts update. Students should focus on the current words.
