Dear Mustang Families,
It is our distinct pleasure to welcome you to the 2016-17 school year. The student body at Silver Trail Middle is organized in teams. Therefore, we would like to collectively ask that you review our syllabus with your child in an effort to become familiar with our procedures, expectations and requirements. During the first week of school we will be focusing on student expectations to be successful during this school year.
Stay organized- Use your agenda
In order for students to be successful in school, it is imperative that they exercise organizational skills. Students are expected to bring their agenda to class daily. The daily class assignments for each class should be copied onto the agenda. Our classroom boards and websites reflect our daily assignments. Please take care of the agenda and do not tear-out any pages as it will be used for organization and parent/teacher communication. In the event that the teacher(s) use the agenda to communicate with parent(s), please be sure to acknowledge your receipt of the communication piece with the parent(s) initials.
Our websites can be accessed through the Silver Trail Middle School website. The following will be reflected on our websites: daily classwork, homework, extended learning opportunities, news, resources and updates. Students and parents are encouraged to visit our websites frequently.
Remind is a communication tool that helps us reach our students and parents wherever they are. Real-time text messages are sent to your phone regarding important dates and reminders. The teachers that currently use Remind will provide students with instructions on how to join.

Parents and students are urged to keep track of their grades by utilizing Pinnacle regularly. It is highly recommended that parents activate grade notification on Pinnacle for the purpose of being notified of the child’s grades.
Incomplete practice work that is not finished in class will be expected to be completed at home due by the following school day. It is expected that students follow directions and complete their work correctly in order to receive full credit. Incomplete assignments that are submitted will not earn full credit; once students submit their assignment for grading; their assignment will be graded accordingly. If the student does not submit his/her assignment, he/she will earn a zero contingent upon receipt of the assignment. Grades will be reduced for assignments that are submitted after the due date.
Students are responsible for all of the assignments missed during their absence. The student will have two days per day absent to make-up their assignment(s). In an effort to meet the increased rigor of new state standards, it is important that students keep up with the pace of each class. We will be building upon previously mastered skills and it is highly recommended that students experience learning foundational skills.
